Ljubica
Ljubica Bar is a riverside bistro bar in Niš, Serbia, inspired by the timeless charm of Parisian cafés, vintage print culture, and the rituals of long afternoons spent over coffee, wine, and conversation. Rather than positioning the venue around products or menu categories, the concept was built around a character named Ljubica, an elusive muse whose world unfolds through space, storytelling, illustration, and atmosphere.The project combines French bistro culture with a subtle Mediterranean ease, creating a place that feels both familiar and unexpected. Every detail, from the visual identity to the tone of communication, was designed to make guests feel as if they had stepped into a story already in motion.


The challenge was to create a hospitality brand that could stand apart in a market largely defined by interiors, menus, and promotional offers. Instead of building recognition through conventional restaurant branding, Ljubica needed a deeper emotional layer that would transform the venue into something people could relate to, talk about, and remember. The identity had to feel timeless yet contemporary, elegant yet approachable, while leaving enough room for curiosity, interpretation, and discovery. Most importantly, the brand needed to communicate personality before explaining products.

Brand Strategy & Narrative
At the core of the concept is Ljubica herself. We developed a narrative system that presents her through fragments, observations, memories, and moments rather than direct explanations. This approach allowed the brand to build intrigue and emotional connection while creating a world guests could gradually uncover.
Visual Identity & Illustration
Inspired by Parisian newspapers, vintage publishing, and classic bistro culture, we created a visual language built around typography, editorial layouts, and handcrafted illustrations. Rather than relying on traditional hospitality aesthetics, we introduced a series of playful, character-driven illustrations that bring a contemporary urban twist to the brand while reinforcing its personality and storytelling.
Experience & Brand Ecosystem
Every touchpoint was designed to contribute to one cohesive experience. Menus, staff uniforms, signage, printed materials, social content, and environmental details were treated as chapters within the same story. Together, they create a brand that feels lived-in, layered, and unmistakably personal.

Ljubica launched with a distinct identity that immediately separated it from conventional hospitality concepts in the city. By building the brand around character, atmosphere, and narrative, the project created recognition long before guests formed opinions about the menu or drinks.More importantly, Ljubica became more than a destination. It became a personality people talk about, a story they participate in, and a place that feels as though it has always existed somewhere between memory and imagination.
